CME (Continuing Medical Education)
Ongoing educational credits clinicians must earn to maintain licensure and board certification.
Continuing Medical Education, or CME, refers to the structured learning activities physicians complete to stay current with evolving clinical practice. Licensing boards and certifying bodies set minimum CME requirements over defined periods, and meeting them is a condition of keeping a license and maintaining board certification. Credentialing teams may review CME records during re-credentialing to confirm a provider remains in good standing and continues to satisfy ongoing education obligations.
