NPI
National Provider Identifier — a unique 10-digit number assigned to covered health care providers in the United States.
The NPI is issued through the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and is used on claims and administrative transactions. Type 1 NPIs identify individual providers; Type 2 NPIs identify organizations.
