Credentialing
The process of verifying that a provider holds the qualifications, licensure, and history they claim before granting network participation or privileges.
Credentialing relies on primary source verification and is usually reviewed by a credentialing committee or medical staff office. It is distinct from enrollment, which makes a provider billable.
