Privileging
The facility-level process of authorizing a credentialed provider to perform specific procedures or services based on their training and competence.
Where credentialing answers "is this provider qualified," privileging answers "what is this provider authorized to do here." Privileges are granted by a facility's medical staff and are specific to that facility.
