SAM Exclusion
Exclusion records in the federal System for Award Management, screened alongside the OIG LEIE to identify parties debarred from federal programs.
A SAM exclusion is a record in the federal System for Award Management indicating that an individual or entity has been debarred, suspended, or otherwise barred from receiving federal contracts, grants, or program participation. Credentialing and compliance teams check SAM in addition to the OIG LEIE because the two lists capture overlapping but not identical sets of excluded parties. Reviewing SAM is a standard component of thorough sanctions screening.
